We empower humans to support pollinators, build wildlife habitat and reconnect with Nature.

“One individual cannot possibly make a difference, alone. It is individual efforts, collectively, that makes a noticeable difference—all the difference in the world!”

Jimi, our local services project manager, brings valuable experience in client consultations, project planning, execution, and detailed reporting. He's also interested in collaborating on building a local contractor collective and contributing to our educational initiatives, as a co-teacher and consulting apprentice. His experience with spreadsheets and technology, including videography and animation are a big bonus to the team, while his certifications in permaculture and ecological design are vital to our business. However, Jimi's relationships with the land, plants, natural resources and people are essential to the ethics of the work we do here.

My Story
Nature Journal_workplay 22.jpg

MY STORY

Hi, my name is Kendra.

I am the founder, CEO and lead consultant of LadyBug EarthCare, an ecological design and regenerative landscaping business innovating the industry, based in central PA. I also run an ecological artist residency at my home, SpiceBush Cottage.

Credentials don’t always tell the full story, but in case you’re wondering, I am certified in Nature-Based Education, Habitat Stewardship, Permaculture Design, Ecological Design, Wilderness First Aid, Somatic Movement Therapy, Yoga Instruction and various holistic healing modalities.

Experience means more to me. My first gardens were tended with my mother to feed our family. I always loved gazing up at the sunflower faces, shining down at me, full of spiraling seeds. I worked in dozens of different fields, across the country, academic and blue collar. A  summer job as a landscaper in Maine, put me back in love with dirty hands and earthwork.

Since then, I have built a 6-figure company offering highly ethical niche services. I've mentored many contractors and crew members into their own practices or businesses. I’ve taught classes and workshops, facilitated community events from education to fundraising, managed small organic farms and restaurants, and curated connections throughout my community to build resilience. I’ve also coached earth-focused CEOs, EDs and board members in many niches, and of course, as the main operator of my business for many years, I’ve consulted landowners on hundreds of local properties, urban, suburban and rural.

More importantly, I grew up gardening, raising chickens, building forts, hiking the Appalachian foothills and searching for salamanders in local creeks. It is here that I forged a core set of memories, instincts and relationships with the ecology of this Place, in the Chesapeake Bay and Susquehanna watersheds. Learn more on this page: My Place

To be real vulnerable, I always struggled to “fit in” to a more normal life path, job, career, educational settings, you name it. Maybe you do too, and maybe that’s partly why you’re here, on this journey with me. There’s something terribly awry with our planet-destroying culture.

Discovering that I am a highly sensitive person changed my life.

Now I understand why I’ve always thrived in natural environments. For your entertainment, I will also share that I am a multi passionate, neurospicy, Virgo (sun), Libra (rising), oldest of 6, homeschooled, often hangry, sometimes nightowl, charcuterie-and-cheese-board-obsessed, Emo-Manifestor (human design) navigating this weird world with plant medicine, various forms of therapy, good friends, an incredible family, lots of books, and a few key nature connection practices.

That’s an intentionally long-winded sentence to reveal how my brain works often ha.

So forgive me in advance for my rants, run ons, extra parenthesis and wild pivots, haha. We’re all on unique journeys and I love that about us. Being human is ridiculously cool. And hard. Let’s give each other a break (trust and rest).

I am also (and maybe therefore) a creative multimedia artist, writer, philosopher and dreamer, as well as the founder of the EarthCare Summit (a 4 day virtual gathering started in 2023), the EarthCare Professionals Program and the Great EarthCare Adventure (both TBD)!

But most importantly, I am just another human being, a part of nature, trying to thrive with this incredible planet, just like you.

Truly practicing EarthCare is about a deep connection with Nature that not only builds our capacity to transition lawns-to-gardens and foster habitat for endangered species, but also transforms our body, mind, spirit and presence in community.

My mission is to empower humans to support pollinators, build habitat for wildlife and reconnect with Nature, through stewardship and kinship, as a form of environmental activism and radical Self-as-Nature Community Care. The programs, content and stories I am eager to share will reveal more about my mission and how to tend this beautiful world we all love.

Anyone can practice EarthCare, and all are needed now.

For wildlife and a wilder life,

Kendra
